Next Stop: Chile — GEIS M-PACT Plus ACB Heads to BHP Spence Copper Mine
[Shanghai, August 22nd, 2025] — GEIS is proud to announce that its latest M-PACT Plus Air Circuit Breaker (ACB) is on its way to Chile for installation at the world-class BHP Spence copper mine.
Before its spin-off, GEIS was part of GE Industrial Solutions’ China operations, serving as the central manufacturing base for many of GE’s flagship product lines, including medium voltage vacuum circuit breakers and equipment, dry type transformers, and the global ACB platform.
Since its transfer from Liverpool, UK in 2000, the M-PACT series ACB has continuously evolved—expanding current ratings, enhancing fault-withstand capacity, and integrating advanced digital technologies. The new M-PACT Plus represents the latest upgrade, featuring a 1380V operating voltage, UL ratings, and a NFC-enabled multifunction trip unit.
As a global leader in the mining industry, BHP recently announced a $13 billion investment in Chile to expand its copper operations. The GEIS team in both Chile and Shanghai is honored to have earned the trust of the BHP Spence Project team and is fully committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional service.
