GEIS Powers Morocco’s “White Gold” — Reliable Medium-Voltage Solutions for OCP Group’s Khouribga Mine

2025-10-30 14:06

October 24 — A new batch of SecoGear P/V-17.5 medium-voltage switchgear has set out for Morocco, ready to energize the Khouribga mining complex of OCP Group, the world’s leading phosphate producer. These high-performance switchgear units will provide stable and reliable power for the extraction and processing of Morocco’s “white gold” — phosphate — supporting OCP’s continuous drive for efficiency and sustainability.

Founded in 1921, OCP exported its first shipment of phosphate from the Khouribga mine through the Port of Casablanca. Over the past century, OCP has grown into a global leader in phosphates and phosphate derivatives — and one of the largest phosphate and phosphoric acid exporters worldwide. As a cornerstone of the global agricultural supply chain, OCP plays a vital role in ensuring food security and sustainable growth.

The Khouribga Mine, one of OCP’s core production bases, operates with a strict focus on safety, reliability, and continuous productivity. The power systems serving this site are therefore mission-critical — ensuring uninterrupted operations in one of the world’s most important mining complexes.

The GEIS SecoGear P/V Series air-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear, designed and tested to IEC standards, features the SecoVac VB2 Plus vacuum circuit breaker, providing outstanding performance, safety, and durability.
Key highlights include:

  • Internal arc classification AFLR, up to 50 kA / 1 s
  • Complete mechanical interlocking system to prevent maloperation
  • Spacious cable compartment for convenient connection and maintenance
  • 304 stainless steel magnetic shields, seismic resistance up to AG5, and a 2 mm double-folded frame
  • Silver-plated copper busbar joints, rated for 1.1× nominal current, with natural cooling up to 3150 A

Looking ahead, GEIS remains committed to delivering innovative, reliable medium-voltage solutions and professional technical support — lighting up every corner of the world where dependable power is needed.
